José Cuervo Agave Fields Tour – Discover the Heart of Tequila Culture

The José Cuervo Agave Fields Tour is your chance to explore the birthplace of tequila, guided by local experts who walk you through the entire production journey—from agave plant to pour. This guided experience gives you access to José Cuervo’s legendary blue agave fields, a live demonstration of the harvesting process, tastings of premium tequila, and exclusive access to the Reserva de la Familia® cellar. Whether you’re a casual sipper or a true tequila fan, this tour delivers an authentic look at Mexico’s most iconic spirit.

The tour is available only on Saturdays and Sundays, making it an ideal weekend escape from Guadalajara. And good news—round-trip transportation is included. We’ll pick you up from your hotel or Airbnb in Guadalajara and drive you out to the town of Tequila in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. It’s a stress-free way to get to and from the experience, with no need to worry about planning the route or booking separate transfers.

Once you arrive, the José Cuervo Agave Fields Tour kicks off in the agave fields themselves. You’ll stand among the rows of blue agave and watch a live jima demonstration—a traditional harvest—performed by skilled jimadores. It’s a rare, hands-on look at how the tequila process starts, and a great photo opportunity surrounded by the UNESCO-protected landscape.

Next, you’ll head into La Rojeña®, the oldest active tequila distillery in Latin America. This is where José Cuervo has been producing tequila for over 250 years. You’ll walk through the distillery with your bilingual guide, learn how the process has evolved over the centuries, and taste the spirit straight from the source. After that, you’ll get access to the Reserva de la Familia® cellar, a quiet, atmospheric aging room that’s not open to the general public. It’s where the brand’s top-tier tequilas rest in hand-selected barrels—this is the good stuff.

Back above ground, you’ll visit Hacienda El Centenario, a beautiful part of the Cuervo family’s legacy with lush gardens, historic buildings, and cultural landmarks. It’s a great spot to relax before your guided tasting session begins. You’ll try three expressions of José Cuervo Tradicional® tequilas, led by a tequila expert who walks you through flavor notes and proper tasting techniques.

To wrap things up, enjoy a classic margarita and sample authentic Mexican snacks (bocadillos) that are included as part of your experience. Then you’ll have a little free time to explore or relax before we head back to Guadalajara in your private ride.
