Embark on the ultimate Tequila Distillery Tour along the world-famous
La Ruta del Tequila, a UNESCO-recognized region celebrated for its rolling
agave fields and centuries of craftsmanship. This curated experience takes you through four
of Jalisco’s most iconic distilleries—Don Valente (NOM 1457),
Tres Mujeres (NOM 1466), José Cuervo – La Rojeña (NOM 1122), and
Fortaleza – Los Abuelos (NOM 1493)—offering a rare blend of tradition,
heritage, premium tastings, and cultural immersion.
With private transportation from Guadalajara, bilingual guidance throughout the day, and
access to both boutique producers and legendary tequila houses, this tequila tour
is the perfect combination of comfort, education, and authentic Jalisco flavor.
Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Landscape in 2006, La Ruta del Tequila is the
birthplace of Mexico’s most iconic spirit. Agave cultivation here dates back hundreds of
years, and many of today’s distilleries still preserve the original production techniques—
stone ovens, copper pot stills, volcanic rock tahonas, and natural fermentation.
This region blends ancient traditions with modern craftsmanship, and your
Tequila Distillery Tour walks you through both sides of the industry: small,
passionate, family-run producers and world-renowned tequila giants whose history shaped the
category itself.
The day begins with private pickup in Guadalajara. As you drive toward the Tequila Valley,
your guide will introduce the fundamentals of tequila—agave varieties, cultivation,
harvesting, and the differences between artisanal and industrial methods. The landscape
itself becomes part of the experience, with endless blue agave fields surrounding the route.
Your first stop is Don Valente, a boutique, family-operated distillery that
specializes in small-batch tequila. Here you’ll explore stone ovens, fermentation tanks,
copper stills, and barrel rooms that highlight classic tequila craftsmanship. Tastings are
intimate and highlight the purity that defines artisanal production in Jalisco.
Surrounded by countryside fields, Tres Mujeres is both rustic and innovative.
Their underground aging tunnels and peaceful agave gardens make this stop incredibly scenic.
Learn about their eco-friendly process and enjoy a tasting that showcases their balanced,
modern expressions.
No Tequila Distillery Tour is complete without a visit to
José Cuervo’s La Rojeña, the oldest active distillery in Latin America.
Founded in 1758, this historic site walks you through centuries of tequila evolution.
Tastings include classic favorites and premium labels, offering something for every palate.
Your final stop is Fortaleza, considered by many enthusiasts the “Holy Grail”
of tequila. Everything here is done the old-fashioned way—tahona-crushed agave, brick ovens,
and copper pot stills. Walking through the courtyard, caves, and aging rooms feels like
stepping back in time. The tasting at Fortaleza is one of the most revered in the industry
and a highlight of the entire tour.
On your return to Guadalajara, you may stop at
Cantaritos El Güero—famous for giant clay cup cocktails mixed with fresh
citrus and tequila. The perfect celebratory end to your day.

Mauricio Ramos –
This tour was awesome. Super smooth pickup, cool guide, and every stop felt different. Tres Mujeres had great views, Don Valente was super chill and local, Cuervo was huge and historic, and Fortaleza? Just wow. We had time to walk around Tequila after and grab a cantarito, honestly felt like a full-on experience, not just tastings. If you’re in Guadalajara, don’t skip this.

Visiting from Texas with my wife. Huge fan of Fortaleza and it was our first time in Tequila and Guadalajara. We didn’t know what to expect, but the tour was fantastic! Pick-up was right on time and our first stop was Tres Mujeres, a beautiful distillery where we learned a ton.
From there we got to meet Don Valente at Fortaleza, which was such a special experience. We also stopped at José Cuervo, with so much history and really cool to see in person. To top it off, we finished the day with a cantarito, and I have never seen a cocktail that big in my life. My god almighty!
