The Sauza family has shaped tequila history for more than 145 years. Founded in 1873 by
Don Cenobio Sauza, the distillery quickly became one of the most influential producers in
Jalisco. Don Cenobio was the first to export tequila to the United States and played a key
role in defining Blue Weber agave as the industry standard.

Hornitos was introduced in 1950 by Don Francisco Javier Sauza as a more premium,
innovative expression—a tequila made using deeper, “little ovens” (hornitos) that enhanced
flavor and purity. Today, Hornitos remains one of the most recognizable labels in the
Sauza portfolio, continuing the legacy of NOM 1102 with a balance of tradition
and modern craftsmanship.
