Visit one of Jalisco’s most respected distilleries with the Tequila Ocho Distillery Tour in Arandas. This experience is ideal for tequila enthusiasts who want to explore traditional production techniques, taste a variety of premium tequilas, and dive into the story behind one of the industry’s most admired brands. The tour includes private round-trip transportation from Guadalajara and a guided group visit to the historic La Alteña distillery.
Founded by master distiller Carlos Camarena and tequila ambassador Tomas Estes, Tequila Ocho was the first brand to introduce the concept of single-field, vintage-designated tequila. Each release is crafted from agaves grown in a specific parcel of land and harvested in a particular year—highlighting the terroir of the Los Altos region. Production takes place at the iconic La Alteña Distillery (NOM 1474) in Arandas.
Known for its use of traditional processes—slow-cooking in brick ovens, natural fermentation, and distillation in copper pot stills—Tequila Ocho delivers a pure, agave-forward flavor that has earned international acclaim. Their portfolio includes expressions ranging from fresh Plata to complex Extra Añejo, all produced in small batches with an emphasis on transparency and craftsmanship.
Your day begins with transporte privado desde Guadalajara, taking you through the scenic highlands to Arandas. Upon arrival at La Alteña, you’ll join a guided group tour and walk through the full production process. You’ll see how agaves are roasted, fermented, and distilled—and get to taste cooked agave and tequila straight from the still.
The experience continues with a guided tasting in Tequila Ocho’s underground cellar. You’ll sample five expressions: two Platas from different harvests, one Reposado, one Añejo, and one Extra Añejo. This curated tasting allows you to experience the depth of Tequila Ocho’s approach to terroir and aging. All guests also receive a complimentary Tequila Ocho bandana as a souvenir.
Following the tasting, you’ll have 90 minutes of free time at the Ocho Agaves Restaurant and Visitor Center. You can enjoy a relaxed lunch (not included), browse branded merchandise, or simply unwind before the drive back. Note: Children under 12 are not permitted inside the distillery but are welcome at the restaurant and visitor areas.
Important: The tour will be conducted in English or Spanish depending on the first group that books for the day. Spaces are limited and subject to availability.
